Sandra Smith, DVM, Bsc
Dr. Sandra (Sandy) has always had a special bond with animals from a young age - she aspired to become a veterinarian at age 5! She grew up in Toronto and was very lucky to pursue her dream - she attended the University of Guelph where she graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She was, then, accepted at the Ontario Veterinary College and graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1999. She was honored with 2 awards while enrolled in the veterinary program - Animal Welfare and Behaviour award and the externship award. Dr. Sandy has been involved in veterinary medicine since 1984 - she has worked at various small animal practices as well as at Woodbine Racetrack to gain equine experience while attending school.
Dr. Sandy has worked in the Peterborough area over the past 11 yrs. She recently purchased Brealey Drive Animal Clinic as the next progression in her career. She is very excited to meet all the new pets and people - she strives for excellence in veterinary medicine while providing compassion and kindness for all.
In her spare time, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with her family while boating on the waterways. She also enjoys walking her 2 dogs, Cowboy and Russell, spending time with her cat, Domino and riding her horse, Maddie.
Tracy Manley, BSc, DVM
Dr. Tracy Manley always knew that she wanted to be a veterinarian. As a high school student she started volunteering at a small animal clinic and got her first job there. As an undergraduate student at the University of Guelph, she spent her summers volunteering at a speciality cat clinic in downtown Toronto where she was then hired.
In 2000, Dr. Tracy graduated from U. of Guelph with a major in biology and a minor in psychology, and in 2004, graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College (O.V.C.) at Guelph. During her summers at O.V.C, she returned to Toronto to work at the Links Road Bird and Animal Clinic where she developed a special interest in parrots, reptiles, small mammals and other exotic pets. In her final summer as an O.V.C student, she spent 6 weeks of her externship learning at an avian and exotic clinic in Miami, and 6 more weeks in Vancouver learning from Dr. Margie Scherk, a board certified feline specialist.
Upon graduation from O.V.C, Dr. Tracy went to work at a small animal veterinary clinic in Keswick, Ontario. In 2016, she and her family moved to Peterborough County to fulfil their dream of owning a farm. In her spare time Dr Tracy can be found working with her husband on their farm, or playing around the county with her three kids.
Dr. Tracy is thrilled to be joining the incredible team at Brealey Drive Animal Clinic, and helping their clients and their furred, feathered or scaled family members to have the best possible veterinary experience.
Meet the Team
These are the ladies who would be helping with your every need here at the clinic.
April has worked as a veterinary technician since 1993, and has appreciated honing her skills since. April has been with Brealey Drive Animal Clinic since 2004 and enjoys her job tremendously. She continues to further her knowledge in veterinary medicine through continued education. She has always worked with animals and cannot see herself doing anything else.
Outside of work she enjoys time with her two children, her horses Sissy and Danny Girl, her dogs Nash and Dennis, and cats Miss Mew, Dixxon, and Benson . She enjoys taking Sissy to Mountain trail competitions.
Jesse has been working in the veterinary field since 1998, and builds on it with continued education. She has been around veterinary clinics since she was born, observing and working in her father’s veterinary hospital in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Growing up with a vet for a dad, and being around animals her whole life, it came as a natural choice to make caring for animals a career.
Outside of work, Jesse also enjoys spending time on the family farm with her dog, Hammi, cats Hotdog, Helli and Sprinkler. During the warmer months she loves riding her Appaloosa horses, Gigi and Floyd. As well as participating in Adventure races and mountain biking.
Rebecca graduated from St. Lawrence College (2011) with a degree in General Arts and Science (certificate in Veterinary Assistant). She became interested in the field at a young age, growing up on a hobby farm with a variety of animals. In her time at Brealey Drive Animal Clinic she has been keen to learn as much as possible.
She still enjoys spending time on the hobby farm, and spending time with her family and her cat, Dino and newest addition Flemish giant rabbit, Little Foot.
Annabelle has been with us since September 2017, she was just over a year and half old at the time. She is originally was an adopted cat from the Peterborough Humane Society and then was surrendered to us. And she has made herself right at home. She likes to spend time greeting clients/patients at the door and while waiting will ask you for some pets and sit on your lap. Going out for little explorations outside to bring us back sticks. And loves dogs but not huge fan of other cats.
If you would like a tour of the facility at any time. Please feel free to give us a call and we can certainly arrange a time for you.
