Sandra Smith, DVM, Bsc

Dr. Sandra (Sandy) has always had a special bond with animals from a young age - she aspired to become a veterinarian at age 5!  She grew up in Toronto and was very lucky to pursue her dream - she attended the University of Guelph where she graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree.  She was, then, accepted at the Ontario Veterinary College and graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1999.  She was honoured with 2 awards while enrolled in the veterinary program - Animal Welfare and Behaviour award and the Externship award.  Dr. Sandy has been involved in veterinary medicine since 1984 - she has worked at various small animal practices as well as at Woodbine Racetrack to gain equine experience while attending school.

Dr. Sandy has worked in the Peterborough area over the past 11 yrs.  She recently purchased Brealey Drive Animal Clinic as the next progression in her career.  She is very excited to meet all the new pets and people - she strives for excellence in veterinary medicine while providing compassion and kindness for all.

In her spare time, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with her family while boating on the waterways.  She also enjoys walking her 2 dogs, Cowboy and Russell, spending time with her cat, Domino and riding her horse, Maddie.

Dr. Rose Rumney

Rose Rumney, DVM, Bsc

Dr. Rose graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in the spring of 2017. Rose grew up on her family's farm near the town of Midland in Simcoe County. With both of her parents working as veterinarians she was exposed to a wide variety of animals from a young age, and quickly learned to love veterinary medicine. Rose attended the University of Guelph from 2008 to 2017, completing a Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology followed by 4 years at the Ontario Veterinary College. After graduation she worked in Midland as a mixed animal practitioner.

Rose has recently moved to Peterborough and is excited to join the staff at Brealey Drive Animal Clinic for Thursday and Friday appointments. While Rose enjoys all aspects of working with cats and dogs she has a particular interest in caring for geriatric pets and helping them to maintain a good quality of life as they enter their golden years.

When she is not busy working Rose is an avid reader, outdoor enthusiast and amateur naturalist, enjoying activities such as fishing, skiing, hiking and gardening. Having recently moved to Peterborough she is excited to learn more about the city and its surrounding area.
